Ingredients to make 2 servings as a main, or 4 as a starter

  • 180g
    Red lentils
  • 1
    Vegetable stock cube, crumbled
  • 1
    Dried bay leaf
  • 1 tsp
    Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp
    Garam masala or curry powder
  • 1 tsp
    Ground ginger
  • 1 tsp
    Garlic granules
  • Pinch
    Dried chilli flakes
  • 600ml
    Water

Method

  1. Place all the contents into a saucepan. Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover and cook for 10-15 minutes until the lentils are soft.
  2. Remove from the heat and leave to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
