
Turkey Shami Kebabs
Usually made from minced lamb or beef, these kebabs are lightly spiced. Originally cooked in a clay oven or tandoor, here they are simply baked in a hot oven. Serve with steamed vegetables or a large salad.

800gTurkey, minced

1Red onion, peeled and finely grated

1Red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped

2 tbspLow fat natural yogurt

1 tspGinger, peeled and finely grated

1 tbspMedium curry powder

1 tspLime zest
-
3 tbspCoriander leaves, chopped

2 tbspMint, chopped

Method

Place the turkey in a mixing bowl with the onion, ginger, curry powder, lime zest, chilli, coriander, mint and yogurt. Season well and, using your hands, mix until well combined. Cover and chill in the fridge for 6-8 hours (overnight if possible) to allow the flavours to develop.

Preheat the oven to 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6.

Divide the turkey mixture into 12 portions and shape each portion into a flat, oval kebab shape. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment and spray with low calorie cooking spray. Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly browned and cooked through. Remove from the oven and serve with red onion rings and lime wedges to squeeze over.
